General Description
FA-100 is used to maintain distillate fuel in a sludge free stabilized condition. This eliminates problems in the storage, transportation and combustion of distillate (diesel) fuels used in turbine and internal combustion engines. Fuel stability has becomes an increasingly important problem because the practice of blending fuels from different sources can accelerate fuel oil degradation. Fuel oil degradation is the polymerization and breakdown of hydrocarbons resulting in sludge formation, color deterioration and disagreeable odor. FA-100 is ashless (contains no inorganics or metallics), is compatible with most hydrocarbon fuel stocks and is non-extractable. FA-100 provides its multi functional benefits without harmful side effects and without contribution to any emissions or combustion products considered harmful to the environment.FA-100 helps to prevent corrosion and plugging problems associated with water in fuels whether it is in storage, transportation or pre-combustion sites. FA-100 also helps to emulsify water, preventing it from accumulating in sites in the fuel system. FA-100 also helps to inhibit corrosion by producing a protective non-deposit forming film on metal surfaces in the fuel system.
Application
Fuel Oil Numbers 1-4
- First Application: To Clean: Use 1 gallon of FA-100 for each 10,000 to 20,000 gallons of fuel oil. If possible, add to fuel before it is put into storage tanks to assure proper mixing.
- Follow-up Application: Use 1 gallon of FA-100 for each 12,000 to 20,000 gallons of fuel.
Fuel Oil Numbers 5-6, Bunker “C”
- First Application: Use 1 gallon of FA-100 for each 5,000 to 10,000 gallons of fuel oil for severe sludge and contamination; use 1 gallon for 10,000 to 20,000 for moderate contamination.
- Follow-up Application: Use 1 gallon of FA-100 for each 10,000 to 20,000 gallons of fuel.
Recirculation of fuel from the bottom to the top of the storage tank will be helpful in obtaining
thorough distribution of the FA-100 conditioner.
