BIOSPEC 5075 is a specially formulated dry powder blend of natural microorganisms, nutrients and synergists. It has been specifically balanced for effective bio-treatment of fresh and weathered crude oil; heavy, tarry petroleum derivatives; oil sludge, oil mousse, and aromatic petroleum hydrocarbons, particularly phenolics.

BIOSPEC 5075 is equally effective in soil and water, and is unaffected by salt water. When re-hydrated and added to a petroleum impacted site, the bacteria in BIOSPEC 5075 begin to de-emulsify oil/water mixtures. The microorganisms work at the molecular level, and are most efficient in the presence of an oil/water interface.

BIOSPEC 5075 converts the petroleum contaminant into fractions of lower molecular weight. Decreasing carbon chain length also reduces viscosity. As viscosity is lowered, the rate of degradation will accelerate. Lowered viscosity may also allow for recovery of oil product useful in re-refinement.
