BAF inhibited propylene glycol based coolants are designed specifically for long term demanding service in large stationary engines like those running compressors to transmit natural gas through pipeline distribution systems.

BAF can also be used in s mall field compressors, line heaters, engine generators, industrial diesel engines without aluminum cooling systems or whatever heat transfer fluid must provide protection against freezing, have low vaporization losses at high operation temperatures and offer protection against corrosion and fouling of the system.

Because BAF is propylene based, these coolants are very low in toxicity. The biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) for propylene glycol approaches the theoretical oxygen demand (ThOD) value in the standard 20-day test period. This indicates that BAF is biodegradable and should not concentrate in common water systems.

Extensive testing of the effects of propylene glycol on aquatic organisms has shown that the material is practically non-toxic (LC-50 > 100 mg/L) with LC-50’s >= 10,000 mg/>L for fat-head minnow, rainbow trout and Daphbnia magna. BAF must be diluted 1:1 with water for use.
