MIL-L-85470 is a fuel oil additive that is used to prevent ice buildup in fuel lines and to inhibit growth of bacteria in fuel tanks. This product acts as an antimicrobial to inhibit the growth of micro-organisms and as an anti-icing agent so that the water does not settle in fuel line low spots where freezing may take place.

MIL-L-85470 should be used at 0.1 percent by volume for J.P.4 jet fuel, and 0.15 percent by volume for J.P.5 jet fuel, Diesel, and Kerosene (1 to 1 ½ gallons per 100 gallons of fuel oil.
